World Fisheries Congress 2024
The WORLD FISHERIES CONGRESS is organized through the World Council of Fisheries Societies every four years. Delegates from around the world meet to exchange ideas and perspectives about new research, emerging issues, scientific breakthroughs, and governance related to fisheries science, industry, conservation, and management. The Congress will be held on March 3-9, 2024 in Seattle, Washington, USA and the Congress theme will be Fish and Fisheries at the Food-Water-Energy Nexus and will explore the many facets of our connections to fish and the habitats that support them. Global survey on locations of freshwater conservation areas
Dear Colleagues, On behalf of a group of conservation scientists at Conservation International, The Nature Conservancy, University of Nevada-Reno, USA, and World Wildlife Fund, I would like to invite you to participate in a brief survey regarding your knowledge of the existence of freshwater conservation areas in your region. Specifically, our goal is to gain an understanding of the global distribution and management of conservation areas that target freshwater fish and/or other aquatic organisms (e.g., snails, frogs, reptiles, aquatic insects) that are otherwise harvested for consumption or trade. 2021 NPAFC Internship Program
APPLICATION DEADLINE: April 2, 2021 The North Pacific Anadromous Fish Commission (NPAFC) invites citizens from its member countries (Canada, Japan, the Republic of Korea, the Russian Federation, and the USA) to apply for the NPAFC Internship Program. One or two interns will be accepted upon approval of the Commission. The intern will work at the NPAFC Secretariat office in Vancouver, BC, Canada. The intern will gain experience and knowledge in operations of the NPAFC and will have the opportunity to test his/her interest in international governmental organizations, fisheries management, salmon biology & ecology, and fisheries enforcement.
